Alaska Fishing Information: Our Home River & Fishing Guides |

We strive to bring you the best Alaska fishing experience! Wilderness Place Lodge accommodates a maximum of only 16 guests, which allows each guest to have personal service from our staff of 14. Upon arrival at the lodge, guests are assigned a fishing guide who will accompany them during the course of their stay. We focus on providing one guide & boat per 2-3 guests. Lake Creek, our home river, offers some of the finest spin and fly fishing for all Alaska salmon species. Lake Creek is a mountain tributary running 60 miles North to South from its source at Lake Chelatna in the Alaska mountain range to the confluence of the glacial Yentna River. It is a dynamic, meandering river with many isolated islands, gravel bars, runs, and backwater areas. Lake Creek is easily fished by spin and fly fishermen alike and is typically done from the river bank, or wading out from mid-stream shallow areas. Our river provides excellent habitat for all Alaska salmon and has shown solid productivity over the past 10 years.
We offer excellent Alaska salmon fishing and trout fishing in our picturesque clearwater river. King Salmon are the first species to enter our river system in early June. King salmon average 20 - 40 pounds in Lake Creek with some fish reaching or occasionally exceeding 60lbs. We fish for king salmon with both spin and fly fishing equipment. King fishing remains good through the 1st ten days of July. By mid-July large number of sockeye salmon arrive. Sockeye average 5 - 8 pounds in Lake Creek and are widely renowned for their quantity fighting ability. Within a few days of the arrival of sockeye salmon come pink salmon (2 - 5 lbs), silver salmon (8 - 14 lbs) and chum salmon (8 - 16 lbs) respectively. Pink, Silver and Chum fishing peaks from mid-July through the 3rd week of August. Rainbow trout fishing is excellent throughout the summer season at Lake Creek and provides a consistent alternative to salmon fishing during your stay with us. Many large native rainbows roam the length of Lake Creek and are an awesome thrill for fly fishing and spin fishing enthusiasts alike.
We are a full service Alaska fishing lodge and outfitter. Our lodge tackle shop has available all spin and fly fishing equipment for use by our guests. We offer only the finest quality fishing gear for all species of salmon and native trout. We are the area's fly fishing authority and offer fly fishing schools to fishermen of all abilities. Fishing Wilderness Place Lodge on Lake Creek, Alaska -- an experience for the young and young at heart!
