Fishing Lake Creek Alaska

Alaska Fishing in August at Lake Creek

August is an excellent time of year to fish multiple salmon species and rainbow trout on Lake Creek. By August 1 of each year we welcome a large run of silver, chum and pink salmon into our waterway. Spin and fly fishermen capitalize on large numbers of each species in many locations throughout Lake Creek. Silver salmon, chum salmon and pink salmon congregate in slack-water areas off the main river channel and provide fast action on the fly, or by casting jigs and spinners. Each species can be caught in large numbers.

Rainbow trout fishing is excellent under proper water conditions as the trout are heavily congregated amidst spawning king salmon during the 1st part of the month, while during mid to late August 'bows focus on spawning pinks and chums. Pink spinners, egg-imitators and a wide array of fly patterns trigger many fish on a typical day on the water.

Clear river conditions allow sight-fishing for massive amounts of salmon in backwater areas. Salmon can be seen in numbers over 100 fish per fishing hole chasing your fly and/or spinner. August provides fast action to a wide range of talents from the avid fly/spin fishermen to the novice. We offer fly fishing schools to those wishing to hone their skills, or to those in seek of pursuing the great art of catching Alaskan fish on the fly.
